There are many quit smoking benefits – and obviously health benefits are the main reason why most people want to quit smoking. Secondly, money plays a part in quitting smoking and the benefit to the average smoker is in excess of $1500 per year, so that is a good financial quit smoking benefit!
Thirdly, the way you and your clothes and your car and your house smell after you have stopped smoking are more good quit smoking benefit. For non- or ex-smokers, tobacco is a very pervasive and disagreeable odour.
Your appearance will also improve as your skin will have a better pallor to it and your teeth can be cleaned a little better without the incessant wash of smoke over them.
But lets get back to the health benefits. It will obviously vary from person to person, but every smoker can enjoy a several benefits from quitting smoking.

2) Within 8 hours, or a nights sleep, nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in the blood are down by at least a half.
3) Within 2 days, carbon monoxide and nicotine will be virtually non-existent in the blood. Your lungs will start the process of cleaning themselves and your taste and smell will start to improve. However, whilst these are good quit smoking benefits, it is at around this time that the withdrawal symptoms will be at their worst.
It is not uncommon for a sore throat, coughing, irritability, constipation and sleeplessness to set in at this point of quitting tobacco. These are common side effects of quitting smoking.
4) Over the coming few months, breathing will become easier and energy levels will increase. The blood's oxygen carrying capacity is back to 100% and the circulation of the body will have already improved.
5) By the end of the first year, lung function can improve by up to 10%, and wheeziness could become a thing of the past.
6) Ten years after quitting smoking, the ex-smoker benefits from a halved risk of lung cancer and a normal risk of heart attack.

Stopping someone- even yourself- from smoking is really one hard thing to do. So we have gathered some simple tips that will help you help yourself with the cigarette cessation.
Establish strong reasons for quitting- this is basically the first start of breaking your habit. Without basic reasons, and reasons that you truly believe in, you would not be able to convince yourself that you really have to unhook yourself from this slow process of killing.
The things is, even if you have heard so many advertisements and advises- the warning the smoking kills is even printed on the package of each pack of cigarettes to help you remember if its worth the risk- your decision would still lie on your personal convictions. No one would be able to let you cease the addiction except yourself. So be sure that you personally believe the reasons why you are quitting and that you are not only finding some scapegoats.
But no matter what you believe in there are still no changes in the fact that with every hit, you bring yourself closer to your deathbed or worse, you are contributing largely on the illness of someone you love.
Believe in yourself- If you are a smoker, you would understand that the physical dependence you have over the nicotine and the habit is very hard to break. So it is best that you pump your willpower with all the guts you need.
Write all the pros and cons of quitting- At first, you might consider yourself as among the common people who can’t simply quit, whatever the reasons they have. But this perspective could be helped if you are to write and read everyday the reasons why and why won't you quit. This will be a good reminder of the reasons you have established initially and have believed in personally. This will also help a lot if you are starting to falter with your capacity to stop smoking.
Find support- there are lots of outside support that you could turn to. Remember that cessation of an addiction is not something that you can easily do by yourself. You will be needing help, and you would need a lot. So be sure to ask for your family's assistance or online support. It would also do you good if you would experience the entire process of quitting and staying quit with another smoker. Both of you could extract moral support from each other. This is also the premise of group effort in breaking the habit.
Condition your mind and know what to expect- Conditioning of the mind begins with the setting of the date. Though sometimes this doesn’t effectively work since many quitters normally postpone their own quit dates, it would still do good if you have a specific day.
Never believe that you cannot quit- Quitting is very easy, you can do it several hundred times over. Many smokers have become extra good in quitting because they have tried it for so many, many times prior to the first success on quitting. So this makes quitting easy enough. But the hard part is gathering the discipline to really turn away from the addiction. So if you have the urges to smoke, find all ways to stay focused on your goal. If you relapsed then don’t think of yourself as a failure.
Failing once or twice, or even thrice doesn’t necessarily mean that you would never be able to get hold of your goal. You may not succeed this time or the next but you still have the chance to try again. We all have a level of discipline to achieve and discipline is an excruciating process and no one would ever want to undergo such a tedious course. So all you have to do is endure and overcome all the temptations that lie along your way. If you can keep close eyes to them then you will be guaranteed of stopping the habit.
Be prepared of the consequences of quitting- The first days are usually the easiest since you still believe in the stamina you had after deciding to quit. But moving across the temptations is the core of the battle. This is where you have to prepare yourself very effectively. Be prepared to feel uneasy, irritable and uncomfortable. This is the nicotine dependence at work. You will have to work very hard just to get over these stresses.

It’s many things to all people, to some it’s a nuisance and to others it’s an addiction. Call it what you will but the world is showing it the door. With England becoming the latest country to introduce a complete ban on smoking, will the image of an office worker, on a cigarette break standing outside a building clutching a cigarette in one hand – be a thing of the past?
Here in the US many cities and states have introduced or are introducing bans on smoking. California has some of the toughest and most extensive anti-smoking legislation anywhere in the world. A ban on smoking inside or within one and a half metres of any public building came into force in 1993 - recently extended to six metres. Smoking is also banned in restaurants, bars and enclosed workplaces - and on beaches - throughout the state. In New York, smoking has been banned in bars, clubs and restaurants since March 2003.
Anti-smoking laws have provoked a strong debate in the US. Some bar owners say their businesses are suffering and smokers say their rights are being infringed, while non-smokers delight in a fresher environment.
US ‘Not Alone’
America is not the only place where you can’t light up freely, with smoking bans being introduced in England, France, Ireland and Australia to name but a few seem to show a growing trend to ‘stub out’ the cigarette.
The remote Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan is thought to be the first country to introduce a total ban on tobacco sales. All shops, hotels, restaurants and bars are no longer allowed to sell tobacco products, with severe penalties imposed on those who flout the law, including a fine and the loss of their business licence.
Who’s Responsible?
There have always been efforts to ban smoking in public places since the realisation that smoking had a negative effect on the health of not only smokers but also those around them. The World Health Organisation (WHO) called for a global ban on smoking in public places in May 2007. The United Nations agency said a ban would help limit non-smokers' exposure to second-hand smoke, which can kill through heart disease and serious respiratory and cardiovascular illness.
Smoking Alone?
Smokers are now facing one of their toughest challenges yet. A ban reflects changing attitudes towards smoking in public place. The question is do you give up your social life or your bad habit? The answer isn’t always easy. Those who have tried to give up will no how difficult it is to stub it out, will power alone isn’t enough to quit.
Giving up Nicotine for Good!
The problem with most smoking cessation patches is that they rely too heavily upon nicotine. Giving up an addiction with a patch that keeps feeding you the stuff just makes the job harder. There is however an alternative, herbal patches promise to do the same job without poisoning your body with nicotine. Herbal patches containing 100% natural and safe herbal ingredients deliver to the smoker a steady fix of herbal ingredients, designed to slowly wean them off the tobacco sticks for good. Trials have proven them to be just as if not more effective at helping smokers quit then nicotine or will power alone.
Giving up smoking is a tough battle, and those being forced into making that sacrifice should make sure they arm themselves appropriately.
